Boom Days Poetry Slam!

Boom Days Poetry Slam is currently closed.

Each April, BOOMDAYS celebrates the removal of the ice boom and the arrival spring, and each year we hold the BOOMDAYS poetry slam. Entrants must register beforehand by entering a poem about the Ice Boom.  The top ten poems will be selected to compete at the BOOMDAYS Poetry Slam.  Each entrant will have the opportunity to perform their poem before the crowd and a panel of five, randomly chosen judges will rate their poem and performance on a scale of 1-10.  The top three scores will win cash prizes totaling $450.  Deadline: Entries must be postmarked March 21.  The top ten will be notified by March 28.  You must be able to attend BOOMDAYS and to perform your poem in order to win.

Send one poem by email to: submissions@justbuffalo.org with the subject line: BOOMDAYS Poetry Slam or by snailmail to: BOOMDAYS Poetry Slam, c/o Just Buffalo Literary Center, 617 Main St. Suite 202A, Buffalo, NY 14203.  Make sure to include address, email, and telephone number with your entry.
